Head Brewer: Dave Taylor
A 5 barrel plant located at Upper Beckstones Mill. First brewed in March 2003. The brewery tap is across the road at the Punchbowl Inn.
Leat 3.6%
(The name is Cumberland dialect for light.) This floral, fruity, thirst quenching beer started out as a light mild then got hops added! Very delectable! It won 'Beer of the Festival in Liverpool' in 2005!
Black Dog Freddy's 3.8%
Named after Dave's own dog, it’s a mild with an absolutely smashing taste! Dave's own favourite!
Iron Town 3.8%
This has a lovely balance of malt and hops and is a great session ale. The nearest town, Millom, once employed most of its malefolk in the long-defunct Hematite Mining Company

A golden, hoppy beer, the palest of the range.

Border Steeans 4.1%
This name is Cumberland dialect for stones on the Scottish borders! The beer is a Scottish borders style fruity and bitter beer, with an sweetish rather than bitter finish
Bitta Clout 4.6%
This beer is so named because it is a bitter but has got clout! It's a very
pale, hoppy, bitter with some sweetness.
Pedalling Parson. 5%
A beer named for and after the Rev Robert Bracegirdle on the occasion of his daughter's wedding. Robert, a well-known local character, vicar of Millom, is frequently to be seen riding his bike in pursuit of the finest real ales!!
Hematite 5.5%
Named after the ore - mined by the Millom Hematite Mining Company. It's a very malty, dark, christmas ale.
High Hoad 7.4%
Named after the Edison lighthouse styled monument near Ulverston. Take it steady!
Whatsitsname! ?%
It's a mix of whatever's left of
each brew after barrelling and strength may vary. Usually served at the
Punchbowl. It was called Whatsitsname because Clive, who always drank his beers
mixed, had a little trouble with speech so he just asked for a pint of
Whatsitsname.
One day, he actually got the name of what he was asking for correct, because
Dave had actually made a pumpclip for it!! Clive sadly died in July 2007, aged
58. And no, he didn't look much like the character on the pump clip!

Production started in May 1997 with a one barrel plant. Demand soon saw the introduction of a 5 barrel plant in 1999. Situated in the yard of the Drunken Duck Inn.
Cracker Ale 3.9%
Cracker is copper coloured with a subtle hoppy aroma. It is clean and smooth with a long bitter finish. A well rounded ale.
Chesters Strong & Ugly 5.2%
Chesters is slightly fruity, with well balanced roasted malt and hop flavours. A full and moreish old fashioned ale. Beer of the festival Ulverston 2007.
Tag Lag 4.4%
Tag Lag is a golden ale with a fresh and spicy hop aroma. Its fruity bitterness builds to a refreshing dry finish. A satisfying, moreish, champion ale. Festival champion Doncaster 2005.
Cat Nap 3.6%
Cat Nap is a pale, straw coloured ale with a strong citrus hop aroma. It has a well balanced bittering, long dry finish and a fruity, zesty character.
Westmorland Gold 4.2%
Gold is a wonderful crisp flaxen coloured ale with strong zest. It has a distinctly fruity and hoppy nose. Gold award – Best Bitters Rotherham 2006.
Pride of Westmorland 4.1%
Pride is ruby red in colour, has a berry fruit aroma and delicious malt and hop flavours. A polished, soft, bitter finish builds in the aftertaste.
Red Bull Terrier 4.8%
Red Bull has deep red tones and a complex hop nose, these are complemented by tangy fruit and malt falvours with a spicy aftertaste. A full bodied winter ale. Gold award SIBA northern beer 2006. Winner - Dark beers Ulverston 2006.
K9 ‘Commemorative Ale’ 4.0%
K9 is light gold in colour with a delicate grapefruit aroma. It has a fresh, bitter, citrus flavour. Highly refreshing.
1077 10th Anniversary Ale 3.9%
1077 is a classic full flavoured soft bitter. Warm copper colours are complemented with a vibrant fruit aroma and taste.

Opened in 1995 with a 5 barrel plant in the old pig sty at the Black Bull hotel. Bluebird Bitter was crowned Champion Beer of Britain in 1998. A new 10 barrel plant now produces 40 barrels a week.
Oliver’s Light Ale 3.4%
A light straw coloured mild brewed with a small amount of W.G.V hops and a generous amount of Demerara sugar for a smooth and refreshing pint.
Bluebird Bitter 3.6%
A single varietal hop beer.A good session ale with it’s golden colour and light, clean, quality taste. An inviting hoppy aroma giving way to a good dry finish. Supreme Champion Beer of Britain 1998.
Bluebird XB Bitter 4.2%
Well balanced , hoppy and fruity golden bitter. Bitter-sweet in the mouth with dryness building
Old Man Ale 4.2%
A rich classic ale, ruby red in colour with a subtle yet strong fruit aroma. Full bodied and balanced with a hint of the finest challenger hops, Old Man Ale is named after the Lakeland mountain at the foot of which sits Coniston brewery.
Quicksilver 4.3%
A golden amber ale, smooth and fruity with malt and hop tones.
Blacksmiths Ale 5.0%
A silky smooth dark amber ale with undertones of rich fruit. Easy drinking belies the strength. Seasonal.

A coppery, hoppy bitter with creamy head and fruity aroma from Bramling Cross hops.
Dickie Doodle 3.9%
A golden bitter with the distinctive flavour and aroma of american Cascade hops.

A rich dark traditional best bitter with the full flavour from cask dry hopped Northdown hops balancing the complex

Croglin Vampire Doppelbock 8%
A bottled beer. Dark reddish brown in colour, it has warming treacle and liquorice aromas with a rich malty taste and some distinct nutty amontillado sherry notes.

A 3 barrel “tower” brewery set within the confines of the Prince of Wales pub. Commenced brewing in 1997. Few regular beers but many, many occasional beers!

A half barrel “nano” brewery with an incredibly small output. Started in April 2004. Concentrates almost exclusively on dark beers.
Lickerish Stout 3.8%
A black, full bodied stout with heavy roast flavours and good bitterness.
Porter 4.0%
A deep, dark porter with a rich chocolate finish and honey notes.
Oatmeal Stout 4.8%
A smooth stout with a sweeter finish.
Letargion 9%
A sweet, ruby, Barley wine. Pronounced liquorice and treacle in the mouth leading to a surprisingly bitter finish. Brewed on request.

A 5 barrel plant situated in the old engine house of the Diamond Pit mine. Started brewing in 2006 with the beer names having a Laurel and Hardy theme.
Desert Son 3.8%
A golden beer with tart fruits and biscuity malts, followed by a long spicy hop finish. Pale malt, Vienna, Amber, Cara, Torrified wheat, Challenger, Goldings and Hersbrocker hops.
Laughing Gravy 4.0%
This is a light copper beer with a balance between malt and hops, leaving a thirst quenching after taste. Pale malt, Crystal, Amber, Chocolate, Torrified wheat, Amarillo and Golding hops
Another Fine Mess 4.0%
A pale full bodied beer with a sweet hoppy aroma. Fruitness balanced with juicy malts leads to a moreish after taste. Pale malt, Crystal Maize and Barley. Styrian Goldings & Cascade hops.
Lonesome Pine 4.2%
A pale honey beer with sweet malts, followed by tangy citrus fruits. Refreshing all year round. Pale malt, Cara and Torrified wheat, Pure honey, Styrian Goldings and Amarillo hops.
Overall winner at Westmorland Beer Festival 2007.
UXB 4.2%
A dark copper full bodied beer with aromas of cinder toffee and flavours of malts, leading to a slightly spiced finish. Pale and finest roasted malts, blended with Goldings hops.
Stout Ollie 4.3%
A black beer full of dark roasted aroma with flavours of bitter dark chocolate and coffee. Easy to drink Pale, Crystal, Chocolate, Roasted Barley, Flaked Barley, Torrified Wheat, Vanilla Pod.
Bad Medicine 6.3%
This is a surprisingly light winter warm beer. No doubt it is strong but very easy to drink and guaranteed to keep your toes (and everything else) warm.
